And what about using the framebuffer gtk2?

I think it only needs a framebuffer driver and don't need any additional
driver.

I was thinking on develop a GUI with gtk2 so we could also test it with
Linux && X as a normal application and just recompile it with
framebuffer support and put it inside iPod.
