#27 to what value should i set my iperf -t

i am using iperf tcp to send traffic over a 1G link , and i capture using tcpdump 1000,000 packets on both sides the sender and the receiver, i got less than 1000,0000 at both sides, when i googled i tried setting the test time to 100 seconds using iperf -c 192.168.1.2 -t 100, this solved the problem at the sender only where i got 1 mil. packets but at the receiver i got much much fewer packets..i really don't know what the problem is any help ???
