In characterizing the loss pattern, e.g. bursty or random, I have patched iperf to report the set of lost datagram intervals from the server to the client, over a TCP channel, right after the UDP_AckFIN, and only if the client specified a -k <log-file> parameter (otherwise iperf -u works the same as before).
