G'day all, I remember looking at this before :-) This is mentioned in the FAQ... http://www.ipcop.org/cgi-bin/twiki/view/IPCop/IPCopFAQ#Why_does_IPCop_not_update_the_av But here is a reminder. First this only applies to people with permenent connections ADSL/Leased line etc, not dial up. The refresh button has nothing to do with refreshing updates :-) It is to do with dial and hangup status, which you don't see when you are on ADSL/Leased line etc. The only way that the updates get refreshed is by running /usr/local/bin/updatelists.pl and this only gets run by /etc/rc.d/rc.netaddress.up. rc.netaddress.up is only run when IPCop dials out or is booted. To fix it... You need to run /usr/local/bin/updatelists.pl either manually when new patches appear or via cron every now and then. I never look at my web IPCop page, so I just run /usr/local/bin/updatelists.pl from the ssh shell, then use the web interface to apply patches. I rely on the email list to tell me when there is a new update. To the devel team... I think the original idea was dialup only and mainly manually, so you would click dial, the page would refresh and you would get a message that there were updates. If it didn't refresh, you could click refresh. Then dial on demand and permenent connections happened. I think the refresh button should be removed as well and an update button be added for static type setups. -- 'ooroo stinga...(:)-) --------------------------------------------------- Email: st...@wo... o You need only two tools. o ///// A hammer and duct tape.
