The ipaccounter 2.00 will be able to collect statistics also from devices running RouterOS. And it is comming soon (2 weeks).
I'm now working on a new release. It will support user defined chains. Will be able to log INPUT and OUTPUT chains in addition to FORWARD chain. The dissinchronized configuration problem will be solved for ever using on-router rulemaps. I suppose it is going to be finished by December.
Ipaccounter-1.01 was released. The WEB frontend
is still unavailable. There were some minor
dificulties running ipaccounter. Still the main
issue is when mysql server crashes. The traffic
info is then lost until someone fixes it. Therefore
it is advised to use some net watching software
like Nagios. For further feature enchancements
see the ChangeLog.
The ipaccounter is the default traffic accounter in Linux Advanced Routing Architecture distribution.
And no, it's not an accident, that the name of those who are develop LARA are the same as ours.
A final review is underway. We want to fix bugs, update the website and create documentation, wich finaly will be published here. After we finish all these we assume the ipaccounter will finaly be production able.
Soon the new ipaccounter with new features will be released. It will be more stable and account more reliably.
Ipaccounter-1.0 was released. All features except the WEB frontend are available at the
moment. The accounter is run on one machine. Namely
maximus.spi-net.org. There were no fault ancountered so far, but it's
running only for one week.
WARNING: that the new ipaccounter release is all rewritten. Therefor the API and versions and database are all incompatible.
