I am running some tests on NAS appliances. I map a share from the NAS to a Windows XP client and then launch Iometer. I am finding that sometimes the share (Z:) shows up as a drive I can target in the Iometer UI and sometimes it does not. I cannot figure out why the behavior is not consistent, since I always map the share in the same way. =20 =20 Should mapped network drives be expected to show up as targets in the Iometer UI? =20 =20 Any way to force the drives which are not appearing to show up in the UI? =20 Thanks, Joe |

I am also having this problem, in particular I don't see shared drives from other Windows boxes in the Disk Targets list, but I see Samba exports from Unix boxes... :-/ I am running the 2006-07-27 version. Where/how can I get access to a version with the mentioned patches for network drives? Hello again, Looking through the source code of Iometer I realized what was my problem - and it was my own fault! Share permissions weren't set appropriately... This is a new share on my Vista server and the default share permissions are "read only". The reason I didn't notice that I had no write permission was because I had already filled the disk with an iobw.tst from local tests that I wanted to reuse, as it takes 6 hours to generate. Sorry for taking your time and hope this report may help somebody else doing the same mistake!
