The system that originally created the iobw.tst file would have been =20 the owner. Remember that Samba can use ACLs in addition to standard =20 unix permissions. Are the CIFS shares exported as public or private? If they are =20 private, make sure you are connecting to the shares with the same user =20 (or at least users in the group from Window's perspective) If you are trying to do cross testing with NFS and CIFS, I suggest =20 using public CIFS shares and setting the guest user to be the same as =20 the default NFS user. Permissions can get a little odd, especially with some of the =20 inheritance stuff. If the iobw.tst file is read only, it means the =20 drive should be hidden from the user. Way back in the day, Intel =20 would create small read-only files on anything that was off limits. Perhaps there should be a dynamo message stating that something is =20 being "intentionally ignored". Joe Quoting Sander Pool <tec...@tu...>: > > Joe, > > thanks for the response (Ming too). Hi Ming, everyone, it's been some time since I've posted but I ran into an iometer problem I hope you can help with. I'm testing a NAS box and it exports a CIFS share. I have this share mounted as a drive letter on both machines. Both machines can access the drive letter and create files there. When I start IOmeter on one machine it recognizes the drive and sees the existing iobw.tst file. The other machine does not recognize the drive at all. Doesn't matter if both machines are trying this at the same time. This is the output of 'net use' on the machine that's having a problem. C:\Program Files\Iometer.org\Iometer 2006.07.27>net use New connections will not be remembered. Status Local Remote Network ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OK I: \\cccifs1\backup Microsoft Windows Network The command completed successfully. C:\Program Files\Iometer.org\Iometer 2006.07.27> I also started just dynamo on this machine and made it connect to another that had iometer running: C:\Program Files\Iometer.org\Iometer 2006.07.27>Dynamo.exe /i sander-dwts /m sqa -xp1 /n sqa-xp1 Number of processors: 4 Processor speed: 2.39 GHz. Number of processors: 4 Processor speed: 2.39 GHz. Command line parameter(s): Looking for Iometer on "sander-dwts" New manager name is "sqa-xp1" Sending login request... sqa-xp1 sqa-xp1 (port 4877) Successful PortTCP::Connect - port name: sander-dwts *** If dynamo and iometer hangs here, please make sure *** you use a correct -m <manager_computer_name> that *** can ping from iometer machine. use IP if need. Login accepted. Reporting drive information... Physical disk '\\.\PHYSICALDRIVE0' contains partition information. done. Reporting TCP network information... done. Removing worker 0. Removing worker 0. Removing worker 0. Removing worker 0. Removing all workers. Ending execution. As you can see it's not seeing drive I:. What can I do? Thanks, Sander |
