Hi,
I'm new to io linux, which I really enjoy as it's pretty cool.
Although I'm a linux nerd for 25 years, I'm new to jack, which causes my trouble.
If using the onboard soundcard, I can hear output with alsa and jack, using audiacy.I also own an RME digi96/8, which is connected by adat to a sonic core scope -card.
Using alsa, I can record with adat and also playback. ( I use the rmedigicontrol to set optical and autosync). Now I try to use this card in jack, but I never get any input and playback always plays back with my onboard soundcard.
Can anyone give me a hint what's going wrong ?
Hi,
You can select the default soundcard for jack using the "Jack configure" program (located in Applications > Audio > Jack), then use gladish app to see if inputs/outputs are ok

Hi, thanks. This enabled me to find more details of my problem:
Using gladish's jack view, I can see different configurations, depending how my rme-card is configured.
If I use my card "standalone" ( just set to the XLR-port with internal clock), I see two system ports for capture... this looks fine.Unfortunately, I need this card to be connected as slave to an optical input ( adat ). Setting Adat ( with an external system providing adat-clocks) lets the systen-capture-ports disappear. If I start jack using XLR and switch to adat while running, I can see the audio coming into jack. ( .. but the drop counter is running..)
So the question changes to : How to set up jack if the audio device is running on an external clock ?

I appreciate your 25 years of Linux experience! To get your RME Digi96/8 working with JACK, ensure it's selected as the input and output device in your JACK setup. Match the sample rate and buffer size, and use the JACK audio asphaltnitro connections manager to route your audio correctly. Be mindful of potential ALSA conflicts. Once configured properly, you should have seamless audio integration with your RME card in JACK
