I see someone else ran into this problem also but no fix was reported. I am running PHP5 and Apache under Windows. I installed everything according to the Install file and it seems to be working. I checked to make sure the user was listed and the database is created correctly. But I keep on getting this error. I tried changing it from PHP5 to 4 but still no luck. Anyone have the fix?

Make sure you can login to mysql server (using mysql client or GUI tools) with the same credentials you use for inventory. You'll then see the problem directly.

I fixed my problem.
