So, Hi everybody. I'm a linux sysadmin, no slouch, not a newbie...But I can't get Inventory up and it's driving me a little batty.
Small favor, could someone post links to the .rpms I'll need. I'm using RHEL 3 or Fedora Core 3 or 4, doesn't matter. But, I can't get mysql-server 4 installed along with apache with php support all at once. Fedora and the redhats all come with mysql-server 3. I got mysql-server 4 up and running, but then could't get it to jive with php-mysql...
I can't be the first with this problem.
dag.wieers doesn't have mysql-server, freshrpms doesn't either...
What are you guys using?
When I get this thing going, I'm going to make an iventory rpm, and throw it up here.
It looks so good, I want in!
Thanks all

This looks like more of an issue you can ask at the RedHat support forums, and see how you can setup the required environment for Inventory.
Personally I use Mandrake/Mandriva which comes with all the required components.

Success! For all who would like to know, Inventory works pretty much out of the box of a Fedora Core 4 installation (not 3 or earlier, however, older Fedora Core versions have an older version of mysql-server). Just make sure to enable php-mysql and the mysql-server on install or yum install ....
after.
Looks beautiful, wowed some of the co-workers, can't wait to add some data.
