Hi, I would like to register to the Developers mailing list.I am staying in Rutherford,NJ(EST). I am a Java Certified Programmer. I would like to help with the project. Thanks, Iby Alan. ------------------------------------------------------ Hello Iby, first of all thank you for your interest in InternetCafe. Well, actually we really need a good programmer to start working at not assigned subproject, take a look at our requirements web page, find what you're more interested and don't hesitate to contact me again. Anyway I hope you will take care of InternetCafe Inventory Management (Its a simple managing subpart that cares about food, beverage and other interesting stuffs for Cyber Cafes' managers like suppliers, orders and any kind of goods) but we need to do the entities analysis and than start coding (in with I can obviously help you and coordinate with). Of course, asap you will choose your subproject I can give you CVS read/write access as well as give you the opportunity to publish on our site you curriculum vitae and your project membership (I think it can be interesting for your career) in our team web page. I must say you another thing, I'm actually employed as software analyst in an italian society, I'm not only a java developer but also a .Net one and I work on Microsoft Workflow Foundation stuffs. For InternetCafe I'm actually developing the subproject 6 so called JDBS, Its an InternetCafe component (almost integrated) that supports users' backups on a peer to peer system called JXTA (I'm also giving an hand in a project called MyJXTA where I gave them the Apache Maven support and they gave me some trick and tips on JXTA platform). I will be glad to work in team with you and hope you will the same. I've to underline that we need people really interested to work (In the free time and not) and we doesn't need people that makes only promises as I've found since now (I had to kick out from the InternetCafe project many programmers consequently I lost my precious time). Don't forget to register to our dev mailing list and than present yourself to the team (send us your country GMT so we can understand how and when we can contact you and wait for replies). Well I can't say nothing else that welcome aboard! I'm anxiously waiting your reply. Cheers, Guido Angelo Ingenito __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Hello, the InternetCafe CVS has been cleaned. The new module name has been set to "internet-cafe" and in past was "internet-cafe-maven". JDBS now starts automatically but it is still in alpha (it supports the local storage/ backup creation in PUBLIC and PRIVATE way but it doesn't supports the remote backup storage yet, It shows only the peer found so far from the JXTA Discovery Service). Try It, any feedback will be very much appreciated. Cheers, Guido |

Hi Frank, setup InternetCafe from the CVS is very easy. Open Eclipse go to the Menu File - > New Project -> CVS -> Checkout... in the form you must provide that data shown in the above image: =EF=BF=BC than press the next button, and provide that data shown in the above =20 image: =EF=BF=BC Now you can press the next button or the finish button, pressing the =20 Finish button will checkout the internet-cafe-maven in your Eclipse workspace. Hope this will help, cheers, Guido On May 20, 2006, at 4:59 PM, fra...@ne... wrote: > Hi, All! > > I am trying to have a look this project and to see if I am able to =20 > help or not. Hi, All! I am trying to have a look this project and to see if I am able to help or not. Some one please help to set up the CVS. I will load the source into Eclipse and see how it looks and see what I can do. I am not good at coding and Jxta. I am willing to learn. In the university, when we do team project, I am always the database guy. Thanks. Frank Peng. ___________________________________________________ Try the New Netscape Mail Today! Hello, first of all thanks for your interest in InternetCafe. The work is very easy (will take no more than 30 - 40 minutes) and attached to this e-mail comes the file to be translated (strings.properties), rename it to: strings_YOURCOUNTRYCODE.properties and send it back to me. Here it is a link to a page that lists available country codes, you will find your correct one (for Turkey should be: tr_TR, Italy: it_IT, Croatian: hr_HR), so the file you should send me back =20 should be named strings_tr.properties or strings_it.properties or strings_hr.properties and so on... Its obvious that your work will be most appreciated and anyone that has contributed in some way to InternetCafe will have the possibility to have pubblished his/her personal data, skills and so on... on the InternetCafe's Team Page (Contributors) whose link is that. This is a translation example from English text to other languages taken from the strings.properties file: FROM ENGLISH (original text to be translated strings.properties): .... command.deletebackupcommand.backupdeletion=3DBackup deletion command.deletebackupcommand.deletingbackup=3DDeleting Backup... command.deletebackupcommand.message1=3DAre you sure you want delete the =20= selected backup from the system? command.deleteclientworkstationcommand.clientworkstationdeletion=3DClient = =20 Workstation deletion command.deleteclientworkstationcommand.deletingclientworkstation=3DDeletin= =20 g Client Workstation... .... THIS IS A SAMPLE CONTENT OF TRANSLATION FROM ENGLISH TO ITALIAN =20 (strings_it.properties): .... command.deletebackupcommand.backupdeletion=3DCancellazione backup command.deletebackupcommand.deletingbackup=3DCancellazione backup... command.deletebackupcommand.message1=3DSei sicuro di voler cancellare =20= il backup selezionato? command.deleteclientworkstationcommand.clientworkstationdeletion=3DCancell= =20 azione PC utente command.deleteclientworkstationcommand.deletingclientworkstation=3DCancell= =20 ando PC utente... .... THIS IS A SAMPLE CONTENT OF TRANSLATION FROM ENGLISH TO SPANISH =20 (strings_es.properties) .... command.deletebackupcommand.backupdeletion=3DEliminación backup command.deletebackupcommand.deletingbackup=3DEliminación backup... command.deletebackupcommand.message1=3DEstàs seguro de querer =20 eliminar el backup seleccionado? command.deleteclientworkstationcommand.clientworkstationdeletion=3DElimina= =20 ciòn PC usuario command.deleteclientworkstationcommand.deletingclientworkstation=3DElimina= =20 ndo PC usuario... .... THIS IS A SAMPLE CONTENT OF TRANSLATION FROM ENGLISH TO CROATIAN =20 (strings_hr.properties): .... command.deletebackupcommand.backupdeletion=3DObrosati Backupa command.deletebackupcommand.deletingbackup=3DBrisanje Backupa... command.deletebackupcommand.message1=3DJeste li sigurni da ûelite =20= obrisati oznaceni backup iz sistema? command.deleteclientworkstationcommand.clientworkstationdeletion=3DObrisat= =20 i korisnikovu radnu postaju command.deleteclientworkstationcommand.deletingclientworkstation=3DBrisanj= =20 e korisnikove radne postaje... .... Note the presence of some \uXXXX codes, It is just unicode, it says =20 to the java virtual machine what kind of character it must use / dislay. The \u means unicode and the XXXX is the UTF-16 code. Note also that you must translate only the TEXT after the =3D (equal) =20= sign. If your language contains non ASCII standard chars like: .... =C3=A9 =C3=A8 =C3=B2 =C3=A0 =C3=B9 =C3=A7 .... you should replace such chars with the correct unicode =20 rappresentation, this is an example: .... =C3=A9 must be replaced with: é =C3=A8 must be replaced with: è =C3=B2 must be replaced with: ò =C3=A0 must be replaced with: à =C3=B9 must be replaced with: ù =C3=A7 must be replaced with: ç .... so a string like =C3=A9=C3=A8=C3=B2=C3=A0=C3=B9=C3=A7 will be translated = like éè=20 òàùç . This is a link to a simple char converter CHAR CONVERTER (Input the =20 char in the Characters Text Box than press Tab and copy the UTF-16 code). Editing the file for translation: please in your translation process use programs like JEdit or other simple (and free) text editor (also MS Notepad works fine). Don't use open office or Ms Word! If you need any help don't hesitate to contact me. I'm waiting for =20 your replies. Best regards, and thanks in advice. Hello Rashmi, I'm still waiting for your reply. I wish to say you that you should register yourself to the InternetCafe mailing list from here if you are interested to join the project. If you are interested, can we plan to have a brain storming on your possible assigned subproject, maybe trough gtalk (I added you in my contact list today)? I've also to explain you how to have CVS access trough Eclipse, after you've joined our project. What is your GMT (I need to know it in order to understand when I can contact you) ? Hope to hear you asap, cheers, Guido |

Hello Amar, I tough that you were working a lot to other stuffs so I decided to remove you from the InternetCafe's project. My decision was due to an obvious thing: I can't have 5 coders but no one works for the project some people thinks that 35000 lines of code are not =20 enough for 5 months of project / 5 developers. (In the past I've removed =20 also other programmers from the project, you know). Well If you want to be again part of the project you should dedicate =20 more time to it. Its obvious. For what regards the XML and XSL support I =20 wrote personally everything needed (Now each entity in InternetCafe is savable and loadable in and from XML) and the session like user lists are done. So your ex subproject is considered closed. If you think to work in any other part of the project give a look to the requirements and decide what you can do and than contact me to have again your CVS access. As ever each subproject has a status, don't care at those one that are signed as Closed or Assigned. I wish to have the support for the subproject 1, can you search for some DHCP totally written in java under GPL that we can integrate in IC? Its impossible, seems, to build a platform independent captive portal, because seems that a captive portal has to work at TCP stack level for packets forwards etc. can you do some search for us? Are you interested in this subproject ? (Note that it is not a simple subproject and it =20 requires a lot of time to decide the level of integration and the =20 accomplishment of its goals, start with some google search and start to plan what must =20 be done, fix the various requirements). 4 what regards the subproject named Inventory Management, Rashmi Tambe will take It and we (me and him) will have a brain storming on it =20 asap as I will receive his confirmation to join the project. Amar, let me know what you want to do. We need active coders. Great news guys, today I've added the localization support to internet-cafe. Translators can work now! Tomorrow I will write the translation from english to italian may you can care at your country language translations. With this e-mail comes the english strings.properties file where each string value is stored. Let me know If some or you is interested to the translation process and wants to contribute with his language localized file. Cheers, Guido |

Hello Lokesh, I want to say you great work again!!! I tryed your code and it is perfect, it works and it is well commented, what is missing now is some facility to export and import your JCards. Today I've defined an interface in order to make smart my and your coding... Such interface called IVCard defines just few methods and comes attached to this e-mail. Can you implement such methods for this week-end? With your JCard support and the Ochomo's help we can do a new internet-cafe alpha release, very soon (maybe asap you've finished coding JCard). Hello Zablon, you've done an excellent work too, continue improving it we really need a well done user's help menu and I still have some translators ready to work :D I've some requirements more for you: 1 - Don't care at the how to center the window I've asked last week. I will solve it asap. 2 - Try to think to a better localization for the Help contents. (We will have soon the possibility to give a language localized help, eg. France help, Detush help etc..) 3 - Add more functionality descriptions also taking into account that when Lokesh will finish his vCard support we will be able to export and import vCards also from bluetooth devices like palms or cellular phones. 4 - Try to make some pages explaining to the internet-cafe users how they can create a new User (and what is a User), new Session (and what is a Session), new Workstation (and what is a Workstation remember the difference between Clients Workstations and Server Workstations)... 5 - Link some informations like our web site, our user & developer mailing list, ask for for donations (we should also have the possibility to gain something from our work and of course we will share everything also if it is little its a nice start point). 6 - Think to everything a user should know about our application. :-) Lets stay in touch guys your good work is very much appreciated! Cheers, Guido P.S.: Try to send each e-mail trough our mailing list so every mail can reach each internet-cafe's developer. I remember that our dev mailing list is: int...@li.... Thanks again to all of you, don't hesitate to ask everything you need. |

Hello Zablon, thanks for the HelpMenu.. I had to modify it a little =20 in order to have a MenuItem to be used directly in internet-cafe... In attachment u have such version. =EF=BF=BC I had to modify something like the getHelpSet method because i got =20 many times a null URL. Well now it works without problems. Anyway can you find a way to center on the screen the help window ? =20 You can use something like this method: /** * This method is helpfull to center on the screen a Component = like =20 a JFrame or a JDialog. * @param component The component to be centered on the screen. */ public static void centerComponent(Component component){ Dimension screenSize =3D = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize(); Dimension frameSize =3D component.getSize(); if (frameSize.height > screenSize.height) { frameSize.height =3D screenSize.height; } if (frameSize.width > screenSize.width) { frameSize.width =3D screenSize.width; } component.setLocation((screenSize.width - = frameSize.width) / 2, (screenSize.height - frameSize.height) / = 2); } but now I have no time to check how to do it.. I'm working a lot on =20 JDBS because of the partnership we got with the MyJXTA project. I hope to receive your notices soon. Cheers, Guido. Hey guys if anyone interested I got a partnership with the JXTA developers team, they are helping me to develop JDBS (subproject 6) and I'm helping them to integrate JDBS in MyJXTA project as well. They will use our backup support to offer such a functionality to their community, we will use MyJXTA to have an inner chat application (with video and audio support!!! wow!!!) in internet-cafe and as well our backup support. Thanks again, Guido. P.S.: internet-cafe reached yesterday 275 downloads... maybe the people really need it... lets work more if possible. Thanks. 4 Amar: Are you alive? :P |

Hello all developers, I have a small request|proposal concerning the InternetCafe. Is it possible to control the content of internet resources being accessed in the cyber cafe? People here complain of bandwidth consumption by porn and such like sites. Or, do you know of a method probably using a java API to do that? Thanks all. ::sub-project 5 leader:: -- Ochomo, Zablon Onyango mobile 254723343162 work phone 254 20 2722348 |
