My thinking for my suggestion was: Under unix tho' "." refers to the directory node, which is why I thought that if you used "/var/somedir/." it would be clear(ish) that it referred to the directory precisely (given you can refer to a directory like that). The = and ! modifiers are clear in terms of what they do... From my "external users" perspective, I'd not find a . prefix to be so clear. Maybe it's worth canvassing some other opinions on which they find clearer :). I'm not too bothered either way, as if it's documented I can understand it, just thought I'd explain the thinking behind my suggestion. Matt |
