I would like to add this to our list of tools that we use on the YUMI or "Multiboot" system of USB drive live disks. I am not with Pendrive Linux, but rather use the tools. If I could find out the initial OS this is built from, it would aid me in loading it the best way, rather than as an ISO on the drive. From the references on your lists, I am guessing Gentoo? I don't know how active you are or how high I will rank on the list of importance so I will continue to pursue this on my own, I was only looking to save time. It is a way to load many distros on a USB, like a pxe boot server on USB. I understand that there have been articles that address USB creation, but not this particular scenario directly, i believe as I have searched. Also, I would like to know if you would like me to ask YUMI if they would mind listing your install in their tool. Thank you for your work on a great tool. http://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/ Thank you for your time and attention, Shaun -- View this message in context: http://inquisitor-english-discussion.41408.n3.nabble.com/live-usb-tp72119p4023788.html Sent from the Inquisitor: English discussion mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Hi, We are small repair shop in Tampa Fl. We currently have a working hybrid setup using server 2012r2 essentials/PXElinux and would like to add the live CD to it. I have a very limited knowledge of Linux so please be gentle. So far I have tried adding the entire 3.1 Beta live ISO which just goes blank after loading the ISO. Is there a way to extract the iso into a folder on my server and boot that way? Any help would be much appreciated. -- View this message in context: http://inquisitor-english-discussion.41408.n3.nabble.com/Help-with-hybrid-server-2012-r2-pxelinux-setup-tp4023786.html Sent from the Inquisitor: English discussion mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

I was able to boot up and get to the graphical menu with my Live CD. However, after selecting Hardware Check, I'm taken to a tcl blue screen and I see an error that says "CD Rom not found." It might help to try different potential base systems beforehand: would you please have a look at Debian Wheezy on that system and, if interested, boot ALT Linux Rescue there too? My interest is that a pet project named mkimage-profiles was started in part due to a desire to bring ALT-based inquisitor to the next tech level regarding image build, and that has been postponed for a few years but the project has matured and it might be the right time to get back to that goal given that the result is actually needed to someone :-) http://en.altlinux.org/Rescue -- ---- WBR, Michael Shigorin / http://altlinux.org ------ http://opennet.ru / http://anna-news.info |

At first I thought this was a limitation of the Dhrystone and Whetstone utils, but upon a recent boot, I saw some message about allowing for 32 cores fly by. I'm working on getting a screen-grab, but that leads me to believe it's a limitation of the OS its installed on. -- View this message in context: http://inquisitor-english-discussion.41408.n3.nabble.com/Dhrystone-32-core-ceiling-tp4023777p4023780.html Sent from the Inquisitor: English discussion mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Dear Prabhat, > Thank you for the reply > I want to ask you , can Inquisitor be deployed on centos?? There are several aspects of what can be called "deployment on centos": 1. Is it possible to build and run Inquisitor client in centos environment? The answer is "yes", Inquisitor client doesn't require any special Linux to run, almost any regular distribution will do. 2. Is it possible to build an Inquisitor client as a package for centos? The answer is "theoretically, yes, but no one has done so yet". There are no special packaging instructions to build Centos (RedHat-compatible) RPM yet, although it should be pretty easy to adapt existing RPM building instructions from build/altlinux directory. 3. Is it possible to build live CD/DVD using Centos as a base? The answer is again, "probably, yes, but nobody tried to implement it yet". This should be harder than just building an RPM, as you would need to implement building Live CD/DVD/flash using Centos tools (akin to spt/mkimage for altlinux or livehelper/livebuilder for debian). 4. Is it possible to build networked client root using Centos as a base? The answer is the same as question #3 - "probably, yes, but nobody has tried it". However, if you'd want to do it only once, you can manually install centos root for networked boot and then manually install inquisitor-client package there - probably it will work. 5. Is it possible to use centos server as a server for networked Inquisitor enterprise installation? The answer is "yes" - in fact, server can run almost anything, there were even success stories of running Inquisitor server software on Windows. Hope you'll find your question in one of these :) -- WBR, Mikhail Yakshin |

I am attempting to boot inquisitor from a headless server. The only access that I have is through a serial console. I have successfully created a bootable USB using the instructions here: http://track.inquisitor.ru/issues/show/35 <http://track.inquisitor.ru/issues/show/35> , but I cannot get GRUB to load over the serial connection. I see a syslinux header and then, the system becomes unresponsive. I have tried modifying the menu.lst file by appending serial to the options. This did not work. Then, I un-squashed the filesystem and changed inittab to force connections back to serial. Neither one has been successful. Help! Of course, i fell myself confortable. I am upgrading it. But I don't have much expertise on Ruby on Rails. Otherwise, I have to do that because I am customizing Inquisitor to work fine for me. Please, i would like to get involved. Check my contacts: Business Email: sti...@fi... Personal Email: chm...@gm... Skype: carlos.maciel.timoteo Phone: +558197169184 Thanks. That's a great idea, although it's one of the many on web server's backlog: it needs lots of revamping in certain places - for example, we have to do authentication more modular (right now it's kind of hard wired to LDAP), make it able to turn on / off certain modules, etc. Do you feel like joining and helping with that stuff? -- WBR, Mikhail Yakshin |

Hi all, Has anybody upgraded Ruby on Rails Frontend of Inquisitor Enterprise to Rails 3.2/Ruby 2.0? I wish to do that to easily maintain the code in the future. Is that a good idea? Thanks in advance. Hi Mikhail, that was the missing part for me, I'm newbie on Linux OS and I dont event try the ALT+F2 key combo. Know it's more obvious for me to interact properly with inquisitor LIVE. Many thanks, best regards, Regis MARTY -- View this message in context: http://inquisitor-english-discussion.41408.n3.nabble.com/How-to-save-test-results-on-usb-tp4023754p4023760.html Sent from the Inquisitor: English discussion mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Hi there, > When I boot from USB using the ISO file of the live distribution of > Inquisitor there is no way to access shell or command line which means that > there is no way to mount other USB volume. In fact, the *is* a way and it *is* standard for all Linux-kernel running distributions as far as I know. Try to switch consoles using Alt+F2, Alt+F3, etc keys to find a working console with a shell. Exact console with a shell depends on Inquisitor build config, recent build would usually use consoles as this: Alt+F1 => main Inquisitor console Alt+F2 => debugging tty Alt+F3 and so on => normal shell consoles Use use "root" and password "inq" to login. -- WBR, Mikhail Yakshin |

Hi, first of all many thanks for your answer but this is not the issue. When I boot from USB using the ISO file of the live distribution of Inquisitor there is no way to access shell or command line which means that there is no way to mount other USB volume. I hope the description of my issue is clear know. Or may be something missed me at this point or I dont use it in the right way ?!
