Category: Other Group: Win32 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Crash when selecting font Initial Comment: After starting a new file with Inkscape, and drawing a text box, when I begin selecting a font, after about 5 seconds, Inkscape crashes without warning. Also, when I'm selecting a font, a new "inkscape.exe" opens in my taskbar. If it helps, I have added fonts to Windows, but I doubt that's the problem. The fonts I've added are from the following link: http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/443318/6201776/ I hope this problem is fixed soon. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: il_corsaro_nero(IT/EN) (ilcorsaronero) Date: 2006-11-12 23:46 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1459012 Same problem here, with windows xp sp2. Font drop-down preview list works well under linux (inkscape 0.44.1), but does not on windows (inkscape 0.44.1). I could not find any specific font causing this issue. The only workaround I found out is to use the text tool which is not affected by this problem instead of the little drop down list. In fact Inkscape handls my fonts correctly, but the preview list has some nasty bug. If any debug information has to be provided, please tell me how to debug inkscape under windows. Thanks for interesting, Antonio ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2006-10-19 15:29 Message: Logged In: NO Yep, me too! I'm running Inkscape 0.44.1 on an eMac with OS X 10.3.9. As soon as I try and select a font Inkscape just crashes out completely. Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: pjv (pjjjv) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: crash at startup, possibly due to preferences.xml file Initial Comment: Only if you're interested... I can fix this by reinstalling but nevertheless Inkscape should never crash. In practise making it uncrashable might be impractical and far more time consuming than it is worth. at a glance it looks like your problem could have been fixed by deleting or otherwise removing your inkscape preferences.xml file rather than needing a full reinstall. (should add that to the FAQ as a big thing to try when troubleshooting startup errors.) When you say "apparently read only" have you tested this theory by deliberately setting the file as read-only? Do you have a copy of the dodgy preferences.xml file that caused this problem? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Alan Horkan (horkana) Date: 2006-11-12 22:46 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=402612 > Only if you're interested... You mention 0.22 but you have not told us what version you are using at the moment, please give us more information. At the time of writing the current version of inkscape is 0.44 and 0.45 is due out soon. Nighly builds are also available for testing purposes. Work done to help with non Latin languages should help many users not just Arabic users and things may have been greatly improved. The chances of bugs being fixed in older versions is extremely slim, most likely you would need to hire someone. Upgrading is highly recommended. Please also try checking through existing requests to avoid filing duplicate reports. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=604306&aid=1592519&group_id=93438 |

---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=604306&aid=1591934&group_id=93438 |

Support for the AI file is another question altogether. Please try not to file anonymous requests. instead please get an account and login so we can ask for follow up information if necessary. Please make sure to try out the latest version of Inkscape before requesting new features as Inkscape is improving all the time. Please do try to mention what versions of Inkscape you have used and if you have tested with nightly builds please mention the build dates. What versions of Adobe Illustrator have you used? There are two major types of files which use the .ai file extension but are actually very different. Please attach a sample file to this report or post it on a web page somewhere (see "Upload and Attach a File:" which should be included near the bottom of the tracker page). What operating system are you using? Macintosh? Taking a rough guess from the nonsense error message it looks like Perl is expecting ImageMagick to be installed but not finding it but it is strange that you get this error message rather than being told you do not have the necessary prerequisites installed to import AI files. Others may reply in more detail, I'm replying quickly to ensure you get an answer of some kind but without knowing for sure if anyone is reading this message I have not looked into this matter in great detail. If you keep working at it you may be able to get things installed correctly and get this to work but the feature may not be available for your platform. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=604306&aid=1595089&group_id=93438 |

I'm sure users will find it extremely useful in a lot of cases. Some requests: - Please remove debug output :) - Can you allow the "space between copies" to be negative? - I'm thinking of the best name for it. It's so versatile :) For example, "Deform/Stretch/Repeat" seems to be more descriptive, what do you think? - In the UI, it needs to be made more explicit that stretching and repeating are mutually exclusive, and if you select one you need to deselect the other. I don't know if the extensions UI can use radio buttons; if it can, please use them. Otherwise, at least add some verbal indications explaining this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: fanf (jfbarraud) Date: 2006-11-12 05:01 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1642629 I added two more options to make it easier to use: you can define an offset in both the normal and tangential directions. This was determined from the relative postions of the objects in the previous version, but was less intuitive... It works now pretty much like a new kind of stroke: you can use any path(s) as a "stroke pattern". I am going to buy a black or gray T-shirt and/or sweatshirt, but until now I didn't find it :-(( White I like only on web pages :-)) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=604306&aid=1595030&group_id=93438 |

Using clones as clippaths is certainly allowed in SVG, but Inkscape dies of infinite recursion when it runs into such a thing. First, the object's bbox is clipped by the clippath bbox, so it calls clippath bbox; that in turn calls the clippath of the clone; but clone calls the original object's bbox again, etc. If we fix this, a similar infinite loop happens with _show methods: sp_item_invoke_show -> sp_clippath_show -> sp_item_invoke_show on clippath -> sp_use_show -> sp_item_invoke_show again, etc. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=604306&aid=1594526&group_id=93438 |

Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None >Priority: 9 Private: No Submitted By: Hans Nieser (aphax) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: crash when opening .svg with blurred objects with CTRL+O Initial Comment: It seems that opening an SVG file that has one or more objects in it that have the blur filter applied, using the Open file dialog makes Inkscape crash right after I click on the Open button. When it crashes, this is printed on the console: ** ERROR **: file sp-object.cpp: line 861 (void SPObject::releaseReferences()): assertion failed: (this->hrefcount == 0) aborting... Trace/breakpoint trap Oddly enough it does not crash if I open the file if I specify the filename on the command line (inkscape /home/hans/Desktop/drawing.svg). I'm running Linux and have compiled Inkscape from SVN (~2006-10-19 23:00). Steps to reproduce: - Open Inkscape - Create a simple object or path - Apply the blur filter to it (CTRL+SHIFT++F and drag the blur slider) - Save the file - Open the file that was just saved using the Open dialog (CTRL+O) - Right after it loads the file, Inkscape crashes Backtrace: #0 0xb74a12fd in IA__g_logv (log_domain=<value optimized out>, log_level=G_LOG_LEVEL_ERROR, format=0xb74cac70 "file %s: line %d (%s): assertion failed: (%s)", args1=0xbfcc0dec "\034B\b]\003") at gmessages.c:493 #1 0xb74a138a in IA__g_log (log_domain=0x0, log_level=G_LOG_LEVEL_ERROR, format=0xb74cac70 "file %s: line %d (%s): assertion failed: (%s)") at gmessages.c:517 #2 0xb74a1402 in IA__g_assert_warning (log_domain=0x0, file=0x842ee1c "sp-object.cpp", line=861, pretty_function=0x842f4a0 "void SPObject::releaseReferences()", expression=0x842ef05 "this->hrefcount == 0") at gmessages.c:552 #3 0x080b6ed3 in SPObject::releaseReferences (this=0x89578f8) at sp-object.cpp:861 #4 0x080b7fb1 in sp_object_detach (parent=0xa049b40, object=0x89578f8) at sp-object.cpp:642 #5 0x080b80fc in sp_object_release (object=0xa049b40) at sp-object.cpp:723 #6 0x080b6c7e in SPObject::releaseReferences (this=0xa049b40) at sp-object.cpp:857 #7 0x080b7fb1 in sp_object_detach (parent=0x85f4580, object=0xa049b40) at sp-object.cpp:642 #8 0x080b80fc in sp_object_release (object=0x85f4580) at sp-object.cpp:723 #9 0x080ae0e3 in sp_item_release (object=0x85f4580) at sp-item.cpp:424 #10 0x080b6c7e in SPObject::releaseReferences (this=0x85f4580) at sp-object.cpp:857 #11 0x0807bca8 in ~SPDocument (this=0x866eeb0) at document.cpp:131 #12 0x0841718c in Inkscape::GC::Finalized::_invoke_dtor (base=0x866eeb0, offset=0x0) at gc-finalized.cpp:48 #13 0xb715dbf1 in GC_invoke_finalizers () from /usr/lib/libgc.so.1 #14 0xb715dc89 in GC_notify_or_invoke_finalizers () from /usr/lib/libgc.so.1 #15 0xb715b69b in GC_try_to_collect () from /usr/lib/libgc.so.1 #16 0xb715b6f0 in GC_gcollect () from /usr/lib/libgc.so.1 #17 0x0841776c in Inkscape::GC::(anonymous namespace)::collection_task () at gc-core.h:112 #18 0x083ab09c in sigc::adaptor_functor<sigc::pointer_functor0<bool> >::operator() (this=0xa3be558) at /usr/include/sigc++-2.0/sigc++/functors/ptr_fun.h:77 #19 0x083ab0c4 in sigc::internal::slot_call0<sigc::pointer_functor0<bool>, bool>::call_it (rep=0xa3be540) at /usr/include/sigc++-2.0/sigc++/functors/slot.h:103 #20 0xb7bb94c8 in Glib::MainContext::check () from /usr/lib/libglibmm-2.4.so.1 #21 0xb7497937 in g_idle_dispatch (source=0x9c43678, callback=0x9c258f8, user_data=0xa3cbdd0) at gmain.c:3926 #22 0xb7499576 in IA__g_main_context_dispatch (context=0x857b130) at gmain.c:2045 #23 0xb749bf82 in g_main_context_iterate (context=0x857b130, block=0, dispatch=1, self=0x85d71a0) at gmain.c:2677 #24 0xb749c376 in IA__g_main_context_iteration (context=0x857b130, may_block=0) at gmain.c:2736 #25 0xb77e9c24 in IA__gtk_main_iteration_do (blocking=0) at gtkmain.c:1097 #26 0xb7e400de in Gtk::Main::iteration_impl () from /usr/lib/libgtkmm-2.4.so.1 #27 0xb7e3ffca in Gtk::Main::iteration () from /usr/lib/libgtkmm-2.4.so.1 #28 0x08294935 in sp_canvas_paint_rect_internal (canvas=0x85f8130, rect=<value optimized out>, x_aborted_limit=0x0, y_aborted_limit=0x0) at display/sp-canvas.cpp:1678 #29 0x08294cc0 in sp_canvas_paint_rect (canvas=0x85f8130, xx0=-193, yy0=-651, xx1=1009, yy1=107) at display/sp-canvas.cpp:1812 #30 0x08294526 in do_update (canvas=0x85f8130) at display/sp-canvas.cpp:1988 #31 0x0829557e in idle_handler (data=0x85f8130) at display/sp-canvas.cpp:2032 #32 0xb7497937 in g_idle_dispatch (source=0xa378f78, callback=0x9c258f8, user_data=0x85f8130) at gmain.c:3926 #33 0xb7499576 in IA__g_main_context_dispatch (context=0x857b130) at gmain.c:2045 #34 0xb749bf82 in g_main_context_iterate (context=0x857b130, block=1, dispatch=1, self=0x85d71a0) at gmain.c:2677 #35 0xb749c29c in IA__g_main_loop_run (loop=0x85e5358) at gmain.c:2881 #36 0xb77e9e16 in IA__gtk_main () at gtkmain.c:1001 #37 0xb7e40147 in Gtk::Main::run_impl () from /usr/lib/libgtkmm-2.4.so.1 #38 0xb7e3ff32 in Gtk::Main::run () from /usr/lib/libgtkmm-2.4.so.1 #39 0x08076f48 in sp_main_gui (argc=1, argv=0xbfcc1784) at main.cpp:654 #40 0x0816b8d3 in Inkscape::NSApplication::Application::run (this=0xbfcc16c4) at application/application.cpp:117 #41 0x0807744b in main (argc=1, argv=0xbfcc1784) at main.cpp:489 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=604306&aid=1580927&group_id=93438 |

Category: SVG Group: Win32 Status: Closed >Resolution: Fixed Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: filter feGaussianBlur has no effect Initial Comment: email: etubbing@... In a project I am working on, in which we use inkscape frequently!, another party has some similar code as given below, this does not show correctly in inkscape. I have downloaded the 0.44pre3 release. The following svg part does not show correctly in inkscape. <svg> <filter id="filtereffect1" height="150%"> <feGaussianBlur in="SourceAlpha" stdDeviation="6" result="image1" /> </filter> <g style="font-size:100; font-weight:bold"> <text x="20" y="120" style="filter:url (#filtereffect1)"> Luxor Rocks </text> </g> </svg> The full example can be found at: http://luxor-xul.sourceforge.net/talk/jug-nov- 2002/slides.html I hope this can be fixed. best regards, Eric Tubbing ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Andrew Fitzsimon (andyfitz) Date: 2006-08-30 10:42 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1021042 we now support it in trunk the full example can be rendered correctly - ish at least its not ignored :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ralf Stephan (rwst) Date: 2006-06-15 22:21 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1275729 this is not a bug. when loading the snippet, you'll see on the commandline a warning about an unimplemented style property. we do not claim full standard conformance. however, you might be interested in hearing that a Summer of Code student is well on his way to implement blurring. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=604306&aid=1506685&group_id=93438 |

There are many more applications of course... More info can be found there: http://math.univ-lille1.fr/~barraud/Inkscape/pathdeform I hope someone will find it usefull... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: fanf (jfbarraud) Date: 2006-11-12 03:01 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1642629 I added two more options to make it easier to use: you can define an offset in both the normal and tangential directions. This was determined from the relative postions of the objects in the previous version, but was less intuitive... It works now pretty much like a new kind of stroke: you can use any path(s) as a "stroke pattern".
