I just downloaded the Oct 24 Windows build and found that my tablet isn't working properly with it. I can move the cursor with tablet pen, but when I press on the tablet nothing draws. I tried toggling the "Use pressure" button. My tablet still works fine in 0.46 and was working in an earlier build I was using last night (I don't think it was more than a week or two old). Let me know if you require a bug logged for this. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Tablet-stopped-work-in-Dev-builds-tp20171213p20171213.html Sent from the Inkscape - Dev mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

I deleted my preferences.xml, letting Inkscape create a new one. Went into the Input Devices menu and finished the setup. Doing this solved the problem for me. I know we're drawing close to a release of 0.47 and I'm not sure that the developers know that the current development builds do not seem to work with Graphics tablets. I'm a little concerned I'm going to be stuck using 0.46 until 0.48 :) I can confirm the issue with my Wacom Intuous 3 on both Vista 64bit and XP 32 bit. I can confirm that the tablet works in 0.46 for both Vista and XP. I can confirm that on Vista the tablet also works on GIMP 2.6.4. I can confirm that tablets did work in builds dated around September 2008. I can also confirm that the Windows XP default drivers for tablets work with 0.46+devel (but I didn't test that pressure worked). It's only after installing the Wacom drivers did interaction with the canvas stop completely. The tablet works to interact with any of the controls, it just doesn't work to draw on the canvas. I also know that one of the RC drivers Wacom released killed support in ALL GTK applications. I reverted to the older drivers when that happened. I'm happy to help test however I can. I'm running XP in a virtual PC so can get quite destructive. I've included these detail in https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/334800 microUgly wrote: > > That hasn't work for me. Pressure sensitivity works fine on Linux, so this is likely an issue with GTK build for Linux. Try to roll back the devlibs to a previous version, recompile and see if this helps. I don't have these problems with Wacom on XP with latest SVN and devlib. My Wacom driver is ver. 6.1.0-5. But I would like to have some rate limiting on the tablet mouse and pen. Yes, do btool clean first, but do not roll back inkscape source yet - like i said, the issue is more likely to be caused by libraries. And report any error output you're getting. -- bulia byak Inkscape. Draw Freely. http://www.inkscape.org |

I didn't notice any errors, but the only result is that it creates the Inkscape folder with no files. I don't know what to try next. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Tablet-stopped-work-in-Dev-builds-tp20171213p23254335.html Sent from the Inkscape - Dev mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

FWIW, I have a volito2 and just rebuilt clean from svn (Inkscape 0.46+devel r21239, built Apr 27 2009) + updated devlibs, and tablet seems to work for me. I'm on Vista x64, sv-FI Wacom 5.08-6 (hmm, maybe it's time to check for an update..) /Simon On Mon, Apr 27, 2009 at 2:28 PM, microUgly <drworm@...> wrote: > > > bulia byak wrote: > > > > Yes, do btool clean first, but do not roll back inkscape source yet - > > like i said, the issue is more likely to be caused by libraries. I extracted build 19763 and it does work when the recent build does not (for me). Since I haven't been able compile with prior revisions of Devlib, might there be a trick where I can copy files from the old pre-compiled build to a new one and see if my tablet works then? -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Tablet-stopped-work-in-Dev-builds-tp20171213p23265588.html Sent from the Inkscape - Dev mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

I have a conventional roll mouse attached to the PC, working in parallel with the Wacom. I just got the thought, that it may be needed in order for proper initialization. Have you also a roll mouse attached? > -----Original Message----- > From: microUgly [mailto:drworm@...] > Sent: 28 April, 2009 04:30 > To: inkscape-devel@... > Subject: Re: [Inkscape-devel] Tablet stopped work in Dev builds > > > > microUgly wrote: > > > > I don't know what to try next. > > > Ok, so I still have a copy of the precompiled Win32 builds from the period > when my Wacom Intuous still worked. I'll try to take a look at this tonight micro, I have a couple of tablets and a couple of versions of windows so will try and pin down what rev (or lib change) broke it. I just had a break through. The Input Devices controls aren't reflecting the true value. By default the Mode for the stylus says Screen. But it's not, it's disabled. I stumbed on this when I switch the device to the tablet eraser, which was disabled, and when I switched back to Stylus it was also now reported as disabled instead of screen. I then changed the mode, to screen. That's the short story. The longer story was that the drop down list wouldn't change at all when I tried. And the position of the cursor and where the pen would draw on the canvas we largely offset. Deleting everything including appdata seems to have corrected it. Although, the mouse cursor is behaving oddly with the calligraphy tool. The tool only draw whilst the mouse is moving. Don't say "duh" :) The position of the cursor is offset from where it draws, and if you draw a straight line from left to right the mouse will be further right than the line. If you then move the mouse left, the line will continue to extend to the right until it meets the cursor. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Tablet-stopped-work-in-Dev-builds-tp20171213p23275900.html Sent from the Inkscape - Dev mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |
