Could you try experimenting with the player command line? For example, just a single source, not in quad split, not showing source names, no audio - does that still fail?

Errors are first to do with sound, then to do with on-screen display.
For sound try adding --disable-pc-audio
For OSD try adding --disable-x11-osd --hide-progress-bar
As a simple check that player works at all, try player --balls 10

Regarding the build error, try removing the contents of the .deps directory in player/ingex_player
Also I would recommend doing make as user ingex and only using sudo for the make install

Peter, I've updated the code. So far I've only tidied the code but I'd be interested to know if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't, I'll make the modifications that Rui suggested.

i had problems doing a CVS update, so i downloaded the entire project in a different location and copied/Overwrite YUVlib and Player Libraries (Dont know if its the same result ?) but it didnt fix the problem

Errors are first to do with sound, then to do with on-screen display.
For sound try adding --disable-pc-audio
For OSD try adding --disable-x11-osd --hide-progress-bar
As a simple check that player works at all, try player --balls 10
Regarding the build error, try removing the contents of the .deps directory in player/ingex_player
Also I would recommend doing make as user ingex and only using sudo for the make install

Could you check in yast that the following are installed: fontconfig-devel, freetype2-devel
They are both installed
OK, I seem to remember that player failing with on-screen-display can be due to missing installed components
ALSA messages about "Unknown PCM cards.pcm.rear" etc. are normal. I get them on my system and sound works.

Peter, I've updated the code. So far I've only tidied the code but I'd be interested to know if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't, I'll make the modifications that Rui suggested.

In YUVlib directory:

In player/ingex_player directory:
make clean; make
sudo make install
./player --balls 10
i had problems doing a CVS update, so i downloaded the entire project in a different location and copied/Overwrite YUVlib and Player Libraries (Dont know if its the same result ?) but it didnt fix the problem

Can you see if that makes any difference to player?
