This is why I mentioned Knab in my first post. It's written in perl, not python. It works, NOW. It is used by hundreds of people, which is completely unimpressive compared to most projects, but this one has never even been officially released. This is just an indication that it's not one fanatic sitting around talking to his own bot. It is a drop in replacement for infobot - it uses infobot's databases, if you want, it has all the functionality of infobot, it even looks like an infobot. And, most importantly, it's NOT a horrible monolithic mess. Which is not to say it's perfect. It's not. But it's got some ideas which could be used when you start designing the new infobot. That's all. |
