May I point out that 'ios' is a very wide spread acronym used for cisco's operation system? You'll proparly never get that out of peoples minds, or be accepted to be associated with it instead of cisco.

DOS was the name of an IBM operating system in the early 1960's. In all the industry literature, that's usually what it meant until the mid-80's, when some upstart kid used the name for the OS on a toy computer IBM deigned to build.
I say build it, call it what you want, and let history decide the rest...
