Hello, and welcome to the iNEWS SOT Entry extension.
This is not an official Avid product. However, I developed it on my while working for Avid, so I can't provide the source code at this time.
This program launches an external GUI to make it friendlier to put soundbite information into a script.
It won't let you put in impossible timecode.
iNEWS SOT Entry features 2 modes: transcribe and outcue. In transcribe, it puts the TRT and outcue on the left side of the script and the full transcription, with start and end timecode, on the right.
In outcue mode, you just put the outcue information in and that's all you get out.

It will use the correct iNEWS tape-time token (ask your iNEWS administrator) and lets you set what you want it to say for Outcue=. It will remember.

It also remembers the last SOT you entered. While it's reliable, it's not perfect and sometimes it will mess up. (Remember, not an Avid-supported product!) If it messes up, delete what it did, run it again, reload the last SOT and hit Add to Script again. It rarely messes up twice.

To run it, put it somewhere on your computer. Then make a Command Line toolbar button which points to the .exe file. When you're in a script and want to use it, hit the button.

This SourceForge site includes a ticket system to ask for features and improvements. I can't guarantee you'll ever see any work on this, but if you come upon something you'd like fixed or changed, feel free to file a ticket.

And again: not an Avid product. Don't call Avid support about this: they've never heard of it and they can't help you. It's provided free, as-is, no warranty, use at your own risk.
