This is the default page, edit it as you see fit. To add a new page simply reference it within brackets, e.g.: [SamplePage].
The wiki uses Markdown syntax.
This program works around a limitation on the Avid iNEWS NRCS imposed by Windows.
The GUI client runs on the desktop with elevated privileges. You'd never know, except for the security restrictions Windows puts in place.
A common and useful workflow is to store press releases, mugshots and other material on a shared drive, and drag a link into the iNEWS assignment record for the story.
That worked fine with XP, but Windows won't allow drag-and-drop to the higher privilege level.
So, Linkmaker.
Put the executable on your computer and make a command-line toolbar button pointing to it.
When you want to add a link, open a story and launch it. you can multi-select files.
Linkmaker will generate the file:// URL and write it into the story.
It will try to prevent errors by not letting you choose files off a Removable drive, a CD-ROM or a RAMdisk. Those tags are reported by Windows.
This is not an Avid product and Avid will not support it. I work for Avid, and I'm not going to give much support, either. And since I wrote it as an Avid employee, I can't currently release the source code.
There is a ticket system on this SourceForge site to report bugs and request features. By all means use it, but there are no guarantees of further development.
If this sort of thing proves popular, Avid may give me more time to work on these little tools.
