lately users have been reporting deferals to few domains. The SMTP standard does not permit aliased hostnames, so qmail-remote has to do a CNAME lookup in DNS for every sender and recipient host. If the relevant DNS server is down, qmail-remote defers the message. It will try again soon.
This quering for T_ANY is an ancient misfeature and will be removed by adding an environment variable DISABLE_CNAME_LOOKUP in qmail-remote. Setting this variable will cause qmail-remote to skip dns_cname() function.
