INDI introduces a standard for Astronomical device control

The Instrument-Neutral-Distributed-Interface control protocol (INDI) introduces a common standard for developing robust and scalable hardware drivers under several platforms.

The INDI project aims to create a solid driver support for a wide range of instruments used both in amateur and professional astronomy.

The current INDI repository contains support for several popular telescopes (LX200, LX200 Autostar, LX200 GPS, CelestronGPS..etc) and few electronic focusers (JMI MotoFocus and more).

Several popular astronomy suites like Xephem (http://www.clearskyinstitute.com/xephem) and KStars (http://edu.kde.org/kstars) employ INDI to drive and control telescopes and focusers.

We seek developers who are interested in supporting more astronomical devices under INDI, and those who can help in general.
