Please separate the settings for Polar Align Optical Train from Regular Plate Solve Optical Train. It was suggested to me on the INDI forum and proven to be true that I would have an easier time polar aligning if I used the Guide Camera to do so. This has proven to be true.
The problem is that once I am polar aligned, I have to come back to the Align page and reset the Optical train there to my primary train. This is a mistake that is too easy to make and I have made it at least twice. Polar Align demands user action on the telescope, where regular align can be an automated function. Settings, once set, should remain that way for the duration of the session or really, until they are changed by the user. Forgetting this caused a scheduled job to capture the wrong portion of the sky.
And it happened again. This time I fortunate to remember to switch back to primary a few minutes in. Only a few minutes lost.
Perhaps I should explain my workflow. I take down my rig after every session. This means I must set it back up whenever I use it, and must polar align each time. Since I am using my guide camera to polar align, this means that every session I must remember to change my optical train to polar align and then change it back for alignment during the observing session. This is why I want these settings separate. Polar alignment and alignment for gotos are separate processes with different purposes.
