Interface-Future Development

Indexmeister deliberately uses a terminal interface. This is not because (or not solely because) the developer is a Luddite, but because many people, particulaly students, still access LaTex by logging onto a Unix server and may not be able to use a windowed interface.

A future version will probably include an optional graphical front end, but it is not a high development priority since the text-based interface works fine now.

There has also been talk of adding an Open Office/Libre Office plugin which will allow users run Indexmeister directly on a file in a wordprocessor and provide imbrowse like functionality for adding index tags to .ODT documents. Again, this will probably happen eventually but is not an immediate priority.
