Hi Rushi Welcome back, we thought that you guys had stopped working, anyways how was IIT. 1. Navigation has been changed For MetaNodes All MetaRelations are displayed in the Relation Area, and if you click onto it you get a METARELATION and in the Relation Area you will get it's destination node if you are coming from the source node or source node if you are coming from a destination node For DataNodes All Instances of DataRelations for that particular DataNode are displayed and on clicking onto those you go to its corresponding DataNode Use it, it will become clearer 2. Creation MetaRelation and DataRelation made easier, Need not remember uuid MetaRelation Start "Schema Creation" type the url of the datasource and then select type of node as MetaRelation, the src and dest field will appear as dropdown lists, select appropriate destination and source DataRelation Do a custom search on a MetaRelation and select src, dest, value, ... attributes , add a new row Set focus onto the src or dest cell and then press right click, a window will appear with all instances of the datanodes select a datanode(Radio Button), press OK, the uuid is filled into the cell 3. I hope you have read my previous mail, regarding SEARCH on metaRelations. We were having some problems with it. We have added a new feature that is ADVANCED SEARCH which is basically a search on MetaRelations, it is giving me some problems. Use it and tell me if i am sending a wrong request. Open a metaRelation node, then press advanced search, this will open a window with the attributes of Relation, source Node and Destination Node, select atributes from Relation , source and destination and apply where clasues if required This will send a Request to the server, which will be displayed in textbox in the window. Check this request. We get a correct response if we select only the metarelation's attribute but when we try to select other attributes we get response which states that client Sent a request Syntactically incorrect, i have explained the entire problem in the previous mail. Can we meet tommorrow around 10:30 - 11:00 AM in PSPL. Hi Rushi, I am having some problems with SEARCH on MetaRelations When i do a SEARCH on /imv/inventory with the following request, i get a correct response <searchrequest> <basicsearch xmlns:m="http://127.0.0.1:8080/imv/inventory/7c7ab15b-00ec-1000-c158-cc1c9f8389c7" xmlns:msrc="http://127.0.0.1:8080/imv/inventory/7c7a8fdb-00ec-1000-9153-cc1c9f8389c7#src" xmlns:mdest="http://127.0.0.1:8080/imv/inventory/7c7aa184-00ec-1000-c5b8-cc1c9f8389c7#dest"> <select> <prop> <m:comments/> </prop> </select> <from> <scope> <href>7c7ab15b-00ec-1000-c158-cc1c9f8389c7</href> </scope> </from> </basicsearch> </searchrequest> BUT when i do this <searchrequest> <basicsearch xmlns:m="http://127.0.0.1:8080/imv/inventory/7c7ab15b-00ec-1000-c158-cc1c9f8389c7" xmlns:msrc="http://127.0.0.1:8080/imv/inventory/7c7a8fdb-00ec-1000-9153-cc1c9f8389c7#src" xmlns:mdest="http://127.0.0.1:8080/imv/inventory/7c7aa184-00ec-1000-c5b8-cc1c9f8389c7#dest"> <select> <prop> <m:comments/> <msrc:computerID/> </prop> </select> <from> <scope> <href>7c7ab15b-00ec-1000-c158-cc1c9f8389c7</href> </scope> </from> </basicsearch> </searchrequest> i get a 400 Bad Request-The Request sent By client was syntactically incorrect Basically i get this whenever i include a attribute of source or destination it works perfectly for metaRelation Attributes. What could be wrong ?? Everyone recognizes the problem of managing thousands of songs. In essence, you want to have a very flexible UI for this purpose. So we have to do some design discussions. For example, check out this link (from slashdot). http://www.sonicblue.com/audio/rio/rio_audiocenter.asp -Vinod |

Hi, If you get the time, you could incorporate the feature of importing. Say a user wants to import an entity, he specifies the URL of the location from where it is imported (eg. http://socrates/imv/pavan/<uuid>) and it is put into his own datasource (http://plato/imv/amrit/<uuid>). Similarly with attributes. Later, Rushi |

Problem could be: <1> You forgot to put a blank line between header and body <2> You are sending extra header info. Only Host, Content-Type and Content-Length are used. We tried this here. It works. Mail us as soon as possible the new version of the plugin (i.e. with the 'accessVisible' removed). I was wondering if PSPL could provide a server for testing IMV. We would require a junk machine that need not be connected to the PSPL intranet, an Internet IP address and some daemons like ssh, ftp, tomcat, Apache, postgresql etc running on it. We would require to have root access for the machine so that we could install packages as and when required, clean up junk files etc. Since it is not on the intranet, I do not see any potential security hazards. This will benefit the AIT group as well. They will not have to get the IMV server running on their machines but use the PSPL server. Since we are constantly making changes to the server, it is difficult for the AIT team to keep up with the changes. Sometimes, due to some configuration problems, they fail to get it running and time is wasted. Secondly, with some sample datasource and the mozilla plugin (xpi) available for download, we can start asking people to visit and contribute information. That way we can populate data quickly. Hi Rushi 1. We are having some problems with SEARCH in imv0.23, if we do a SEARCH with an empty body(i.e for retrieving all metanodes) ,and the next time we try a SEARCH we don't get any response from the server. Is there any problem with 0.23 or maybe we are doing something wrong??. 2. It seems that you can create new datasource from client side if you do PUT for a metanode creation ??? If you don't have a datasource say XYZ and you do a PUT with 127.0.0.1:8080/imv/XYZ it gets created. Is this supposed to happen ? 3. I am unable to use Berkeley db.I have done the following things a) Copied the berkley dll's in my system dir b) Copied the inventory and unjarred in /var/imvdb c) Have done the required modifications in %CATALINA_HOME%\webapps\imv\WEB-INF\web.xml But when i do a GET on http://127.0.0.1:8080/imv/inventory/7c7a8fdb-00ec-1000-9153-cc1c9f8389c7 i get a response as type Exception report message Santosh, I have written a script to convert a MySQL database to IMV. Using this script, we could quickly populate an IMV datasource with a bunch of data. Since we need to have a sufficient amount of data for demonstration, I was wondering if you could find some MySQL database lying around at PSPL (employee database, financial results, samples of some database project). Even if the database is in some other RDBMS (like Oracle), we can dump it into text (SQL commands) and send them to MySQL. Let me know if you can find something with about 3--6 tables each containing 15 to 500 rows. Later, Rushi |

Hello all, I've uploaded IMV server version 0.23. On the interface side the main additions are are: 1> Enumerating all MetaNodes in a Datasource - Send a SEARCH request to the datasource URL without any body. You will get multiple responses each containing the required <href> and <value> XML elements. 2> Finding all MetaRelations in a Datasource - Send a SEARCH request to the datasource URL with the following body. <searchrequest> <basicsearch> <select> <allrel/> </select> <from> <scope><href> MetaNode ID </href></scope> </from> </basicsearch> </searchrequest> Some changes are: 1> The <select> XML element in the SEARCH method wasn't correctly implemented. The new standard is complaint with DASL and should be used as follows: (a) To select all properties <select> <allprop/> </select> (b) To select no properties <select/> (c) To select set of properties <select> <prop> <prop1/> <prop2/> ... </prop> </select> (d) To select all relations <select> <allrel/> </select> There have been several changes at the backend. We have two DataStores that can be used: 1. File system data-store (fs) 2. Berkeley DB (db) We are trying to add more to the above list. Some on our mind include: 3. JDBM (jdbm) 4. JDBC (jdbc) or MySQL (mysql) or Oracle (oracle) By default, the server will use 'fs' store type and '/var/imvfs' as base. We recommend that you use 'db' instead. You can configure this by editing the imv servlet configuration file found in %CATALINA_HOME%\webapps\imv\WEB-INF\web.xml (where %CATALINA_HOME% gives your jakarta-tomcat directory). Set up "storetype" as "db" and "storebase" as "/var/imvdb." To use the "db" datastore you will need Berkeley-DB library which you can download from http://imv.sourceforge.net. Install Berkeley-DB and then restart tomcat. You should have imv working with "db"backend. I've attached a sample datasource "inventory." It contains: MetaNode computer: 7c7a8fdb-00ec-1000-9153-cc1c9f8389c7 MetaNode employee: 7c7aa184-00ec-1000-c5b8-cc1c9f8389c7 MetaRelation inventory: 7c7ab15b-00ec-1000-c158-cc1c9f8389c7 ... and their instances. Please write back asap if you were able to use the new version. Later, Rushi |

Amrit, Could we meet again tomorrow at PSPL to see your browser plugin? We have made the required changes and I will upload the new version soon. Please ftp to upload.sourceforge.net and upload your xpis. Santosh has downloaded Mozilla for Windows 0.9.5 binary and Mozilla for Windows 0.9.8 source. You could take the 0.9.8 source back and try recompiling for the new version. Please inform us asap. Later, Rushi |

Guys, <br> <br> I am back from US. One of the good news is that I have someone interested in the project, and he is capable of <br> getting the infrastructure deployed with wireless providers. <br> <br> Of course, we have a lot of work ahead. For e.g. we will <br> require SMS interface for use with cell phones. (We can <br> also write a client application running within cell phones.) <br> I will discuss this further when we meet. But they are the <br> next phase of the core project, and we need to do some brainstorming. <br> <br> And Richard Stallman is coming to PICT sometime mid-March. <br> We should be able to make him interested in it. <br> <br> -Vinod |
