I've configured ImDisk (see atached image) to save the ramdisk content at shutdown but every time I rebbot my (Win8.1) pc the ramdisk appears empty. What's wrong?

Did you have a warning message beginning with "Warning: the fast startup feature of Windows is enabled. This can lead to some issues"?
That said, even with the fast startup, you should retrieve the ramdisk content because the system writes it on the hard drive (C:\hiberfil.sys) and restores it at startup.

So, I would rather say that the ImDiskTk-svc service is not properly configured. This can occur if you reboot the system without closing the window of the RamDisk Configuration Tool.
In this case, just recreate the ramdisk and close the RamDisk Configuration Tool.

This issue occurs because this service is configured after the dialog box is closed. When the system shutdowns, it kills all the user processes and therefore kills RamDiskUI.exe before the configuration of the service.

Maybe I should considere that as a bug. In fact, I did that because managing the services in RamDiskUI.exe was too complicated and could create issues. But it seems that this design is still an issue. A user is not supposed to know that the window needs to be closed to see this feature working.

So if you have hibernation disabled in Win 10 this will stop the shut down save from functioning? With hibernation off, there is no hiberfil.sys?

The bug discussed here is fixed in the version 20170706.

About the hibernation (which is used by the fast startup feature of Windows), yes of course, without it, nothing will be saved to the hard drive.
If you still want the data to be saved, you need to use the synchronization feature: go to the Data tab of the RamDisk Configuration Tool, and select for instance a folder to which the ramdisk content will be copied at system shutdown, depending on the options.
