Sync at shut down is copying everything, not just new and changed files. So that is a lot of writes to the disk. The ideal solution would be to sync only new and changed files. But before that, I want to use other standalone sync software that does not copy existing unchanged files to do the sync (like FreeFileSync). However, I don't know if uncheck sync at shut down in ImDisk will disable my RAM disk to sync at startup. Anyone has the answer to that? Thanks!

What are you talking about?
There is nothing to sync at startup, because data have just been copied.
And at shutdown, it seems you missed the purpose of the Archive attribute... This attribute, cleared for each copied file in the ramdisk at startup, is set by the system for any change done in a file. This way, the synchronization tool of ImDisk Toolkit only copies changed files at shutdown, unless you uncheck the related option.

I meant at startup, RAM disk needs to copy files from (not to) the synced folder. If I uncheck sync at shut down, will the RAM disk still copy files from the synced folder at startup?
(I didn't change the option for copy only files with archived attributes, as it was not clear to me what it meant. Now I just read another thread of discussion where someone said this option made no difference to him, all files are still copied to the synced folder. Anyway, I just want to know the direct answer to my question above if possible.)

Yes of course. As long as a path to a valid folder is written in the first field of the Data tab, all the files of this folder will be copied to the ramdisk once it is created. No need to check an option.
