Hi
I installed IM Disk as 4gb drive with letter a: and temp enabled.
After that, windows update reported error 0x80070001
Uninstalling solved the problem, so the problem was mist likeley imdisk.
I reinstalled without temp, but there have not yet been any large updates, so not sure if it will work.
Regards.

I have had trouble in the past with some software not functioning properly when the temp variables point to the ramdisk. For the past few months I have used a startup script to create a directory junction from the system disk to the ramdisk, and point the temp variables to that. So far no problems and Windows updates are running fine.

Yes, I failed to mention that method has worked for me in the past. I use a script now for the purpose of placing a page file on the ramdisk at boot time, so my previous response was unintentionally misleading on that point.

This can now be done with the RamDisk Configuration tool.
"Set TEMP Variables..." -> "Use a Junction"
