#12 manual install

I am trying to install IMC on a Gentoo server. As this
is a source built distro, I need to install this
manually. When running make install, "/usr/bin/install"
is giving the error...

/usr/bin/install -c -D -m0755
/opt/IDEALX/imc/etc/init.d/imc-server
/usr/bin/install: too few arguments

Looking at the install man page, I suspect that it
should have a source option. How would I specify this
in the Makefile or am I barking up the wrong tree here.

I suspect the problem is obvious to someone with
experience of install. Please excuse my ignorance of
this. :)
