My view of the current situation based upon user comments and the increasing number of downloads is that IMAP ID Proxy basically works, but some people sometimes see disconnects, errors or log-on failures.
So can we make the proxy better to fix this?? Well that depends, because maybe the problem is that the the IMAP Server (Yahoo) is simply a bit unreliable, in which case there is nothing we can do. But maybe there is some modification we can do to the proxy that will reduce the number of disconnect. Any suggestions would be welcome please (but please stick to changes to the proxy as I can't change Yahoo!).
In particular, if you use one of the official clients (e.g. Yahoo iPhone app, Zimbra, etc.), and find this works better than using IMAP ID Proxy, then it would be most useful to see some diagnostics/trace comparing the two.

Apparently the Yahoo iPhone app uses a different IMAP server imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com. Anyone who is seeing disconnects might like to try that server instead (edit ImapIdProxy.properties). If you do find this helps, please post back to let everyone else know.
