binmash v1 (stand alone) released

binmash is an exciting new companion script to the ikbin binary search site. binmash uses RSS feeds as search queries and displays the results on a single page called a 'mashup'. This makes it easier than ever to find relevant content in just a few clicks.

binmash stand-alone can be run from any host and use any ikbin-powered search site as a data source! It uses two open source libraries to fetch external data sources, no local database is required or used. Magpie caches the RSS feed intelligently, and binmash caches the mashup output for an adjustable interval.... read more

Beta 1 Release

The beta one release is now available. ikbin is working pretty well - you can see our progress at the project site: http://www.ikbin.info . We think our sorting logic, while resource intensive, is the best on the web.

There shouldn't be any major feature additions until we are out of beta. Its just efficiency and bug fixes until stable.

We could really use a small bit of help on any of these items:
HTML/CSS layout for search results and other tabular data.
Someone to look through the REGEX and suggest how to make it a bit more efficient.
A review of table structures and suggestions to reduce the table sizes. Take a look at the data table stats here: http://www.ikbin.info/stats.php .

First Release

Today we made our first release. This is early and dirty, but it will work. We're working on, and will take help, with the following features:

1. Advanced search.
2. Header parsing (into yenc files).
3. Collection building.

No documentation yet. To try it out: unzip to a folder. Put the tables in a db using the .sql. Configure the db, user/admin sql user, and news server access in the TWO config files. Point your browser at index.php and admin.php.
