    Dear Ruven,
first of all I gotta say thanks for your awesome work! I'm working on the
Cranach Digital Archive and we consider ourselves very fortunate to be able to
    develop our platform with IIPImage.

Over the last months we ran into the problem that more and more people
duplicated our images with screenshots. You sure can imagine that the owner of
the objects aren't very happy with this, so we activated your watermark
feature on the iipserver. The problem is that it's not very useful to have the
watermark on each tile and if I change the value of watermark probability this
looks too shuffled and random :).

So I was wondering if there's a way to display the watermark just on
predefined tiles i.E. the first and the last tile?

    Best regards
    Joerg Stahlmann

Thanks! It's great to have IIPImage as part of the Cranach Digital Archive.

This is a tricky one to solve. Do you mean you want a watermark on the first
and last tile within the area being viewed? Or on the first and last of the
overall image? Or perhaps instead of random watermarks, they could be
distributed on alternate tiles or some other fixed distribution? If anyone has
any other ideas, please feel free to post them.

Hi and thanks for your reply!

If there would be opportunity to place the watermark at the first and last
tile of the area being viewed this would be so great and exactly what we need!
If its easier to place them on the first and last of the overall image, it
would be a solution too. Though on the area being viewed would be a little bit
    saver and more valuable.

The problem with the first and last tile of the viewed area is that as each
tile is requested separately, the server cannot know what the viewing area is.
First and last is certainly possible. Or perhaps even each of the 4 corners?

What about in the existing implementation if you reduce the probability to
something like 0.1 or 0.2 to have just 1 or 2 watermarked tile per viewing
area? The idea behind the randomness is to also make it impossible to remove
    the watermark electronically.
