Hi Sean, Actually ifp-gnome doesn't require root privileges as long as you add your regular user to the plugdev group. Ubuntu adds the first user to the plugdev group by default. I should have some time this weekend to explore the other problems you're having. -Billy Sean Hammond wrote: > Update: Installed ifp-gnome on Breezy again on a different machine. > This time I ran it and got a 'could not claim interface message' > because my iriver was turned off. It doesn't appear to be possible to copy files or folders FROM my iRiver to a computer using ifp-gnome. I have to use ifp-line to do this. I use my iRiver to transfer data fairly often, and since ifp-gnome supports drag-dro= p TO the iRiver, would it be fairly easy to add support for drag-drop FROM th= e iRiver? -- Sean's mailing list bin |

Update: Installed ifp-gnome on Breezy again on a different machine. This time I ran it and got a 'could not claim interface message' because my iriver was turned off. Closed ifp-gnome, turned on the iriver, ran ifp-gnom= e again, got the segfault. This reminded me that although ifp-gnome always has to run with root privileges the command it installs in the gnome menu is 'ifp-gnome' and not 'gksudo ifp-gnome' (this was true of earlier versions of ifp-gnome, you had to change the menu entry to be able to use it). I changed the command and ran it again, now it appears to be working fine. At least it doesn't segfault. I haven't actually tried uploading any files but I will try that soon enough.
