Linking or opening a IFC file from SCIA engineer in Revit 2015
I get no profile information from the column in the file.
Scia Engineer claims to be IFC2X3 certified (http://nemetschek-scia.com/en/open-bim)
If I open the IFC file in Solibri model checker, I do see the profile info.
I would like to see the profile information somewhere in Revit, instead I get the name of the steel column (S1)
Is this related to the Revit importer or the Scia export?
This is likely not yet implemented. Please include a file, and we'll make sure we read the SCIA profile information correctly. Please do make sure you state exactly what information you expect to read, and where you expect to see it, for the best results.
In my previous post I attached a Scia IFC file from a single steel Column.
If I open this file in Solibri I can see under the Profile tab the Type, Name and other properties of this profile.
I would like that the "Profile Type" is the "Revit Family Name"
"Profile Name" is the "column Type" in Revit.
in case of the attached example: "I-Shape Profile" - "HEA200"
Of course other properties map as expected,
IFCmaterial goes to "Structural material"
The Column Name (S1 in the example) goes to "Mark" instance.
While I'm at it ;-)
I would like to map these steel columns and beams to my custom library of Revit families.
So if I open or link a Scia IFC file, my own families get loaded in.
As a reference, I think the Graitec advanced steel Add-In, does a good job in mapping and importing IFC.
The Tekla Add-in is way to slow.
Looks like there are a few requests there :) The first request seems to be not just to import the profile (and related) information, but to make sure it goes in the "right" place. The second is an ability to map IFC structural members to Revit families via UI. Both are good suggestions, and we'll keep them in mind for future improvements.
