Hi James, This did the trick! Thanks much for the advice and quick response. :) - Brenna -----Original Message----- From: James X. Please see the test case IeUnit\samples\ApiTest\SelectTest.jst for more sample code. To negate an assertion statement you can use the assertMustFail. Something like: _.assertMustFail( function() { _.assertSelectHasOption(0, "OptionC"); } ); The syntax is not very nice. If you need to use this freqently, you probably should create your own assertion method. James Hey all, I've been using IEUnit for awhile, and find it to be extremely useful. However, recently I have run across a problem with constructing the correct test assertion. If I want to assert that a particular option (let's say, Bunnies) is present for a dropdown, I can do something like: _.setSelectionOption(0, "Bunnies"); No problems here, although I must admit that this isn't the best way to do this (since I'm basically asserting the value is there because I'm selecting it, not by scanning it to see if the value is there). The trouble begins when I want to assert that a dropdown does not have an option present. Presently, if I do: _.assertNull(_.setSelectOption(0, "Bunnies")); I will get the following result: Failed: 'value' is undefined Is this a bug in IeDHTML.js? Is there a better way to go about writing this assertion? Thanks in advance for the advice! Hi everyone, has anyone had experience with the IEWatch software? In a press release at http://www.iewatch.com/pr-1-2007.aspx (released this month) the company stated that they are claiming a patent for a feature that allows users to inspect HTML code by directly clicking on rendered pages. Has anyone tried this feature? Does anyone know details about their pending patent claim. This feature seems to be exactly what QuickFocus of IeUnit does, except that QuickFocus also produces various kinds of JavaScript test code. QuickFocus has been released two years ago, and open sourced last year. I don't know whether IEWatch company is aware of IeUnit, but when I searched "IeUnit" on Google, IEWatch was the only popup software ad displayed on the side. I am a little concerned that potential conflict between this patent claim and IeUnit project may cause unnecessary trouble for IeUnit users or for them. best wishes, James X. Li |

Hi everyone, I have just uploaded a simple flash demo document to IeUnit web site that shows how to use QuickFocus to create smart bookmarks. You can find the link to the demo at the end of the following page: http://ieunit.sourceforge.net/ Any feedbacks and suggestions are welcome. cheers, James X. Li www.visumap.net |

Hi everyone, I have just released IeUnit version 2.3.240. This version has the following major changes: * Upgraded the C# code to .Net 2.0 platform. * Various minor bug fixes. * Tested under IE 7.0. * Open sourced the GUI tool QuickFocus. To build QuickFocus and the complete setup msi file, you need Visual Studio C# 2005. Notice that the new version requires .Net 2.0 runtime system. Downloading information for .Net 2.0 can be found at http://ieunit.sourceforge.net/GettingStarted.html. The new version is currently only available at the following link (as sourceforge download system is currently not functioning): http://www.visumap.net/index.aspx?p=Resources&q=WebTesting Cheers, James X. Getting the current page's URL is not that simple, since the IE DHTML model doesn't allow scripts to read the URL value. IeUnit has integrated a COM object, Win32Dom, that allows you access almost any GUI object on the local desktop. Take a look into the test case samples\Win32Dom\GetUrl.jst, it demonstrates how you get the URL within a IeUnit test script. cheers, James ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dickson Van" <Dic...@ca...> To: "James X. Li" <jam...@us...>; <ieu...@li...> Sent: Wednesday, November 01, 2006 2:09 PM Subject: RE: [Ieunit-general] Internet Explorer crashes (Ie6 and Ie7) afterextended usage I tried splitting up the tests and running them with batch files with no luck. The trick that worked for me involved _.closeWindow() and using _.sleep() for a few minutes between tests, and increasing the minimal waiting time to 2 seconds. Another question, is there a property anywhere that stores the current page's URL? Thanks, Dickson Van QA Tester CaseWare International Inc. -----Original Message----- From: ieu...@li... Subject: Re: [Ieunit-general] Internet Explorer crashes (Ie6 and Ie7) afterextended usage I had similar problem when I used IeUnit to test a cache server. The test script simply visits many many web sites. The test usually crashes after 2 to 3 hours of continues test on a 500MB laptop. The memory leak likely comes from the low level framework (e.g. JavaScript engine+COM+IE etc.). The only work-around I know for this problem is to split the test into multiple test suites (e.g. directories for IeUnit), and start them separately with a batch script. James X. I tried splitting up the tests and running them with batch files with no luck. Anyone else getting a Read/Write exceptions due to low memory, say about after 5+ hours of continuous IEunit testing? Putting in more ram may be a quick fix, but perhaps there's a long term solution to this memory leak. Anyone have any idea what could be the cause of this? I have a gig of ram, and my tests go through about a page a second and are expected to run for 6 hours limited by the speed of the plone server. Dickson QA Tester CaseWare International Inc. |

Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, QuickFocus is not open sourced. VisuMap Inc. is willing to open source QuickFocus, but they are not able or not willing to provide the maintenance and support. If we can find enough interested people with C# skills, we can could make QuickFocus open sourced too. So, please if anybody is interested in supporting open source QuickFocus, please let me know. IeGuiRunner currently accepts only the option -I via the WScript.Arguments object. Please look into IeGuiRunner.wsf for how you can extend it. You can also look into that source for how you can modify the HTML content. It is all DHTML. You need to spent sometime to learn it. P.S.: Please send future questions to the IeUnit form. Sort of solved it by having something like this.
