in a test the initial delay (defaul.delay) was set to 3secs. the delay did not (visibly) increase while a pice of music was played.
however, comparing the (aligned) recordings of both the sender and receiver side, one could notice that in the beginning the delay was quite high (about 300ms), while afte approx. 2 minutes this dropped to a constant "low" value (probably <10ms mean; but with lots of exceptions of about 30ms; see other report on jitter)
