While it is correct that ethX is the "most common name" for ethernet
interfaces, you seem to have missed the point:

eth =3D ETHernet, IEEE 802.3
wlan =3D Wireless LAN, IEEE 802.11

A wireless LAN interface is not an ethernet interface.
