idesk 0.7.1 is to be killed and re-executed if you want
a background image change to take effect.

Unfortuneately, a restart causes x.org to flicker and
show a black screen for a very short time.

This happens with the transparent icons provided by the
Gentoo project on http://www.gentoo.org/dyn/icons.xml. They
do have a shadow adapted to the current background image,
but miss an update of it when you change the background.
