I think it's a good idea to use "snmp traps" to send the
alerts form sensor. This format is supported by other
devices such as firewalls, routers, etc. This can extend
the capacity of of IDEA...
Currently, IDEA uses CORBA / IIOP for communications with
client programs. To change sending from IDEA server to
clients to SNMP traps is a huge undertaking and I don't see
any gained benefit at this time. However, I will look into
the possibility of adding it on as a feature so that the
IDEA server can notify other SNMP enabled clients of alerts
it has received. Thank you for the great "idea", pun intended.
