[Update- sorry, I forgot to change the subject. This email pertains to 50.1.2] Dear friends and users of ICU, We published ICU4C 50.1.2. This is a maintenance updates of ICU4C 50.1.1. It is a single-purpose fix, for ticket #9826 <http://bugs.icu-project.org/trac/ticket/9826> where the Layout Engine ABI was broken in 50.1.1. If you are not using the ICU Layout Engine, you do not need to upgrade to this version as there is no change from 50.1.1. (Note: If you *are* using the ICU layout engine, you may want to consider trying HarfBuzz, which has an ICU API-compliant wrapper for existing ICU Layout Engine now being tested. HarfBuzz has and will have much better support going forward. For more information, please join the HarfBuzz mailing lists and continue the discussion there: http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/HarfBuzz ) ICU4C 50.1.2 files and a list of changes are available at http://site.icu-project.org/download/50 Regards, Steven Loomis for the ICU Project |

Does it mean that ICU 50.1.2 is ABI-compatible with ICU 50.1 and ABI-incompatible with ICU 50.1.1? If users have built applications (linked against libicule.so) with ICU 50.1.1, then they should rebuild them after upgrade of ICU? -- Arfrever Frehtes Taifersar Arahesis |

There was no ABI change in the common & i18n libraries that most people use. markus |
