i've used icqlib before, and i know it rocks, but its a pitty mirabilis is leaving v5 aside.
that is why about 2 months ago i started coding my own C console client (originally for linux) that now compiles under linux,bsd,win32,qnx and BeOS.
The code is pretty organized, if you find my code useful, please let me know and i'll be glad to help.
I'll start working on turning it into a lib asap. The code itself is organized into different files such as YSM_Network, Slaves, Prompt, etc.
It's called YSM and its available right here on sourceforge at ysmv7.sourceforge.net
