icewm-1.2.35, but seems like problem appeared in 1.2.34.
On startup, I see very small (just size of 'window menu' plus one-two pixels around) window in left up screen corner. I don't know, which app created it. Window is uncloseable - it just ignore 'close' button and 'xkill' command. Window is resizeable - its black in client area.
Also, "Super_L" key (bounded to system menu) stops working when this window focused.
'xprop' show following on this window:
=================================================
~$ xprop
WM_PROTOCOLS(ATOM): protocols WM_DELETE_WINDOW
=================================================
One thing I can do with them is minimize. But, I just want to get rid of it.
I use icewm from ALT Linux Sisyphus distribution (actually, I'm maintainer of icewm in this distro). Package containt many patches from many places, but no one of them wont change since 1.2.33.
P.S.: Hm... maybe I point wrong versions (1.2.33, 1.2.34, 1.2.35). Maybe, problem appeared early...

I see this problem as well after upgrading from version 1.2.33 to version 1.2.35. A couple of different applications cause this issue for me. One of them being the following mail notification applet: http://www.nongnu.org/mailnotify/.
I'm not sure what the exact cause is at this point, but I have removed the offending application from my ~/.icewm/startup file until a fix is posted. Also, I didn't test this thoroughly, but it appears that if I manually start the application after IceWM starts, it works fine. The small window in the top corner only appears if I place the application inside of the ~/.icewm/startup list.

Try "killall icewmtray".
