There are a few steps we need to go through before we can announce to the world our move of ICD to a sourceforge project. We need to make ICD look real, so that people will want to stay and contribute. 1) Move the source code over to the Sourceforge CVS servers - DONE We have lost the version information, but it is still available on the old CVS server so this isn't too serious. A bit more serious is the report that there have been "0 commits". A quick perusal of our project page makes us look lacking in seriousness. We should get at least a few commits up against the Sourceforge server, even if they are just changing comments. Actually, we may indeed want to change the comments if there is anywhere that lists us as GPL licensed. You may have noticed that I listed us on Sourceforge as LGPL, which I believe we had agreed on previously. We may also want to talk about dual-licensing with a more open license, to work better with the other PBXs out there. 2) Make a release - DONE I have released version 1.0 as a tarball. Is the code currently stable enough to justify a 1.1 release? 3) Install a web content framework - TO BE DONE Anyone know PHP and applications written in them? Sourceforge will give us a MySQL database and access to a particular PHP system if we ask for it. I am leaning toward TikiWiki (http://tikiwiki.org/), which looks like a fairly full-featured one. Other common choices include PostNuke, Zeus, and Drupal, among others. Does anyone have any preferences and or experiences? After we have these, we can start putting content on the web page. I'll move everything off the Wiki I was developing, and help make a framework that you guys can add detail to. Once these things are up and we have a bit of content on the web page, we can announce our new home to the world. We can also announce the 1.1 release if you guys feel it is ready. Announcements should go on freshmeat.net and, I guess, voip-info.org. Anywhere else? |
