Is there a way to switch the use of low-level OpenSSL api calls to EVP ones?

  Sorry, I didn't get an alert for this. It may be possible in some, maybe most places. However, there are cases where I'm converting between the TPM format and openssl format, and I believe that this requires low level calls.
