RC2 (Release Candidate 2) of the updates for kernels 2.6.28 and above has been released.
his code compiles against 126.96.36.199 source, and is consistent with changes in other PCMCIA modules for 2.6.28. However, it has not yet been tested on a live 2.6.28 kernel.
All feedback welcome!
New files have been released for the ibdriver project which is an open-source driver for the iBurst (TM) wireless broadband USB and PCMCIA devices.
Packages for ibdriver 1.3.4 with support for older 2.6 kernels have been released.
There are now 4 packages for release 1.3.4:
ibdriver-1.3.4-linux-2.6.tar.gz: support for kernels 2.6.0 (we hope) up to 2.6.16
ibdriver-1.3.4-linux-2.6.17.tar.gz: support for kernels 2.6.17 to 2.6.19... read more
Linux driver for the ArrayComm* "iBurst*" wireless broadband devices. Based on an existing GPLed driver "ibut" written in C and distributed by ArrayComm, the project supports porting to new kernel and hardware versions, as well as development. *TM
Version 1.3.4 of the ibdriver project has been released.
This version has support for new USB hardware and ASICs from Kyocera.
We want to send out a big "Thank You" to Kyocera for providing information on the requirements of the new hardware, and for testing the 1.3.4 version of the driver with this hardware.... read more
A very small change is needed for the driver to compile on 2.6.24. A new version of the driver has been uploaded into the download area.
Thanks to the people who let me know what changes they had made to get the driver to compile!
I have posted an updated version of ibdriver-1.3.2 which includes the patches for kernel 2.6.20 provided by Danial Burr (thanks Daniel!).
ibdriver 1.3.2 has been released.
The primary new feature is the publishing of status information to the linux wireless extensions. This means that in addition to the simple status applets provided, many standard wireless tools can now be used to display information on the iburst connection. This has been tested with CLI tools such as 'iwconfig' as well as GUI tools such as KWireless and KWifiManager.... read more
The ibdriver code has reached version 1.3 with the release of version 1.3.1.
Two files are in the release:
ibdriver-1.3.1-linux-2.6.tar.gz which is compatible with all linux kernels up to and including 2.6.16.
ibdriver-1.3.1-linux-2.6.17.tar.gz which is compatible with linux kernel 2.6.17 *only*.
The README file has been updated to reflect recent experience with the newer kernels - plae read it if you encounter any problems on your distro.... read more
A little long in appearing, this is a patch consolidation release, incorporating patches submitted by various supporters (thank you to all who have helped!)
Specifically, support is incorporated for newer hardware including the USB-powered modem, and newer ASIC sets.
In addition, the kernel 2.6.16 patches have been incorporated. Work is currently under way to support kernel 2.6.17.
Version 1.2.8 of ibdriver has been released. This release provides supports for the new kernel-space association of pcmcia cards, as well as further changes to investigate the information from ib-file.
Enjoy - the ibdriver team.
The ibdriver project is continuing its push to have the ibdriver accepted into the regular kernel distro with the release of ibdriver-2.0. This release is intended specifically for the kernel acceptance process. Users wishing to build and install a driver on their own machine should use the most recent ibdriver-1.2 release.
Release 1.2.6 of ibdriver (the open-source linux kernel module for iBurst modems) has been released.
This release incorporates changes to default parameter values, to ensure full speed without tweaking values, a reworking of internals including locking logic, initial support for the ib-file driver which retrieves status and statistics information from the modem, and changes to allow the driver to compile and run under 2.6.13 kernels.... read more
ibdriver, the rewritten iBurst driver for linux has been released for 2.6 kernels.
Huge thanks and kudos to xanthophile for rewriting the code, and barrbrain for getting the USB code to work on 2.6 kernels.
The current release can be downloaded from the ibdriver-2.6 package.
The ibdriver project has been started. The project will provide stable, open-source drivers for iBurst(TM) user terminals (modems).
The first release for the project is ibut3-10a5, which is a port of the "ibut" GPL driver originally provided by ArrayComm(R) for linux kernels.
Version 10-3 of the driver includes support for 2.6 linux kernels.
Work is also continuing on a re-written driver "ibdriver", which will be released shortly.... read more
