Is it possible to use IAXModem to get Hylafax to talk to Asterisk so Asterisk will do T38? on another list, someone said no, but that seems to destroy a large part of the point of getting hylafax to talk to Asterisk in the first place (Which is what IAxmodem is meant for, at least partially, right?)
So, did I just mis-understand him? Did he misunderstand me? Is one of us Wrong?
And assuming that this *CAN* be done, can someone point me at documentation to explain how? I just read through the Asterisk docs and they weren't very helpful.
thanks.
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
IAXmodem was always designed to talk to Asterisk for the purposes of sending/receiving faxes on PSTN lines (for example a T1) and not T.38 or VoIP.
It's conceivable that Asterisk should be able to gateway between iaxmodem and a T.38 endpoint, but I can't admit to having ever tried it myself or heard with certainty that someone has been doing it.
