I was directed to IAXModem from the Avantfax forums. We have been using Avantfax and Hylafax since 2007 and could not be happier. Our fax board is a Multimodem ZPX. My reasons for exploring IAXModem is so that I can run my fax server in a virtual environment. My Linux distribution of choice (SLES11) includes the Asterisk server and IAXModem in their software package repositories. I am curious if using IAXModem and Hylafax in a virtual environment will be as robust as our current use of the Multimodem ZPX and Hylafax in a non virtual environment? Thanks.

I can't make any comment as to the reliability of anything in a virtual environment. However, in faxing operations iaxmodems should be as reliable (if not more-so) as any other fax modem.
