[Iaxclient-devel] iaxcomm won't load on RedHat 9

I installed the wxWindows libraries from source and am attempting to run the 
lastest posted iaxcomm on my RedHat 9 box.  However, when I cd into the 
iaxcomm directory and attempt to execute the binary I get the following 
error message "Error wxWindows Fatal Error : Couldn't Initialize IAX Client 
."
Has anyone else seen a simular problem or might be able to suggest 
corrective action to fix it?
Also, fyi if I attempt to execute the make in the iaxcomm directory I get 
the following error:
(cd ../../lib; make libiaxclient.a)
make[1]: Entering directory `/lib'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `libiaxclient.a'.  Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/lib'
make: *** [makelib] Error 2
