Hi, did you find a solution to your problem ?
I see that you wrote this issue in 2009. I'm encountering the same problem now 
on all recent versions of Ubuntu and Fedora.
I tested .asoundrc file you wrote, and tried solve the issue by modifying the 
file, and writing other .asoundrc files, none worked.
Is there a solution other than OSS ?
