Hello.
This project is not really dead. Not yet. But I am working on integrating this project to my other project, treemap.
The result will certainly be a new project, as I had to rewrite a lot of code and to change whole part of the
architecture.
So, for now, this project is not dead. But he will be once the new one will be out (I really don't know when).
Since, I'm still taking into account modification that people send me (the last one was about using java
Collections). So, feel free to hack :-)
Concerning the Xerox Parc permission, I haven't asked for it, because I don't have to: software patents are
still illegal in Europe (even if not for long it seems). That's the reason why the executable (on which the
patent applies) is in Europe, and shouldn't be downloaded by American (or Japanese it seems) people.
The burden is on the US user: if he want to use (or even just to download) the executable, he should ask first
the permission to Xerox, because of the patent. Same thing for Japanese people. But all others, including
europeans, could download it and use it without asking to Xerox.
Fortunaltely, patents don't applies to factual description, only to processes. Which means that the source code
does NOT fall under the patent: you can download and read it even in the US. But, of course, you don't have the
right to compile it or to execute it.
